Mr. BRAINWASH AKA THIERRY GUETTA (French, 1966) Four offset lithographs - 2012 24 by 36 inches, largest Mr. Brainwash is perhaps best known for his role in the film Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010), which documented his rise to success in 2008. He has been quoted as saying, “Banksy captured me becoming an artist, in the end, I became his biggest work of art.” The four posters were used to advertise his much hyped Los Angeles solo exhibition titled "Life is Beautiful". Much like Warhol, Mr. Brainwash re-appropriates popular images and juxtaposes them within his canvas—however, where Warhol used Marilyn, Brainwash uses Charlie Chaplin, Madonna, monkeys and Kate Moss. The exhibition posters are a nod to Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein—Campbell spray cans instead of Campbell Soup Cans; a portrait of Madonna versus a portrait of Mao; a Brainwash Mickey Mouse versus a Lichtenstein pop Mickey. Mr. Brainwash has exhibited extensively around the world, including recent shows at Art Miami and LA Art Show $150-300 Categories: Mr. Brainwash
