A pair of high heels made for and believed to have been worn by Marisa Pavan as Catherine de Medici in Diane (MGM, 1956) and acquired at the David Weisz & Co. MGM Auction after sale in 1970. The custom dyed scarlet satin shoes are embellished with gold trim and metal ornaments. The shoes are branded "Mandel's" and are inscribed "Marisa Pavan 1675." de Medici is often credited with introducing high heels for women at her wedding to Henry, Duke of Orleans, in 1533.
