Needlework Sampler, England, 1793, worked in silk threads on a fine linen ground, composed of registers of flowering vines and potted flowers, above the lower register with central house flanked by trees, floral devices, and figures including Adam and Eve around the tree of life, the top register with indistinct maker's name and "Aged 9 1793" followed by three sets of initials, presumably those of family members, all within a border of flowering vine, 15 1/2 x 12 3/4 in. (sight), in a period molded black-painted frame and textured and incised gilt liner.
