Early Painted Pine Chest over Two Drawers, Massachusetts, late 17th century, with molded and cleated lift-top opening to a well above a single arch-molded case of two faux and two working drawers, outlined in molding in differing patterns, on molded base, sides extending to a flat end with chip-carving on the bottom edge, original cast brass teardrop pulls and escutcheons, original surface of black-painted moldings and red case with dark brown graining in swirl, (imperfections), ht. 35 1/4, wd. 39 1/8, dp. 20 1/8 in.
