Watercolor Portrait Miniature of a Gentleman, probably England, early 19th century, watercolor on paper, the subject wearing a black coat, 2 1/8 x 1 5/8 in. (sight), in an oval aperture within an embossed mat and molded giltwood frame. Note: A pen inscription on the backing reads: "William Eyre/Second Son/of/Th-- & Eliz--/Eyre/10 October/.1784." A genealogical search finds record of a William Eyre, born to Thomas and Elizabeth, who was baptized in 1784 in Surrey, England.
