Joseph Davis (act. Maine/New Hampshire, 1811-1865) Portrait of a Young Family Unsigned. Watercolor on paper, the couple facing each other across a grain-painted table on an ingrain carpet, a banjo timepiece on the wall above them and calico cat below, 14 1/2 x 9 1/2 in., in a period black-painted, reeded frame. Condition: Toned, water damage to lower edge, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Skinner, American Furniture and Decorative Arts, March 1, 2015, Lot 83.
