Includes "Hiyoshi Mamoru Korean Scene (Gate of Castle)", circa 1951; signed in plate to bottom right corner along with artist's seal and marked to bottom right "Printed by Kyoto-Hanga-In 1951"; measures approximately 11" x 15-3/4" unframed; in good overall condition with very minimal wear; also includes "Hiyoshi Mamoru Korean Market", circa 1951; artist's seal to bottom left corner; includes matting; measures approximately 11" x 15-3/4" without matting; in Fair overall condition with some toning and warping to edges. Born in Tokyo, Hiyoshi Mamoru studied art with Okada Saburosuke and graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. In the early 1950's, he designed brightly colored woodblock prints of Korean people and their customs. The prints were published by Kyoto Hanga-In. Many of Mamoru's prints are signed in English, M. Hiyoshi.
