Mid-century V'Soske signed skein dyed wool rug with V'Soske label to back; features blue field with yellow floral design; measures approximately 11'10" x 16'11"; in fair condition with some light wear. In 1924 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Stanislav V'Soske revolutionized the floor covering industry, when he created the first hand tufted wool rug. Seeking an alternative to the traditional loop pile method, Mr. V'Soske perfected a way to tuft through a strong cotton base, creating a needle that could provide various pile heights and densities. This innovation made possible versatility in the interpretation of design and a custom capability that has been unchallenged ever since.
