Baker Furniture (American, founded 1903), contemporary. A George I style low walnut chest from the Stately Homes Collection, featuring a rectangular molded top in highly figured French walnut matchbook veneered and banded over three graduated drawers with decorative inlay and stylized hardware over a foliate carved and shaped apron raised on four heavily carved cabriole legs terminating in scrolled toes, also known as the 'whorl' foot. Each drawer retains locking mechanisms with single original key present. Top interior drawer with Baker plaque; also bearing the label for the Stately Homes Collection. Approximate height 32.5", width 35", depth 20.75". Note: The original George I low chest resides in Wollaton Hall, home to Lord Middleton.
