Chinese, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Daoguang style pale celadon porcelain floor vase in baluster form having a underglaze blue decoration of four claw sinuous scaly dragon chasing the flaming pearl above a long tailed perching phoenix holding a lingzhi in its beak amidst a garden of blossoming carnation stems and high cloud scrolls, the neck with applied Buddhistic lion and cub modeled handles. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 22.8", diameter of mouth 7.6". Provenance: Purchased May 30, 1979 from 'Yue Po Chai Curios Store" in Hong Kong as indicated with Certificate of Antiquity. Paperwork indicates production of vase around 1870. Copy of certificate available upon request.
