Japanese, likely Meiji Period (1868-1912). An earthenware bowl of round form raised on a ring foot with decoration allover to interior and exterior with courtly figural and warrior scenes within fan, cloud, and gourd form cartouches reserved to a ground of intricate patterning of flowers, geometric and organic shapes, and prunus fruit, allover with gilt accents and highlights to the blue, green, and peach toned composition. Underside of bowl with cloud shaped mark over fan mark, each with elaborate gilt marks. Approximate diameter 6.25", height 2.875". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S.
