American, late 19th/early 20th century. A Victorian brass and glass hanging oil lamp with pull down pulley motor located in decorative pierced brass top canopy with smoke bell or cap issuing two suspension chains to raise/lower the lamp above a pierced brass circulet hung with sixteen prisms and mounted to each side by a single prism and chains that secure the large decorated brass frame enclosing the milk glass shade hand painted with large blooming roses accented by leafy stems on a green to pink ground. The embossed brass band is hung with twenty four glass prisms and further mounted with open scrolled frame centered with matching floral painted milk glass font having a solid brass oil burner stamped "Nu-Type" and "Macbeth Evans", the whole terminating in three central prisms. Wick winder is marked "MADE IN USA". Lacking glass chimney. Diameter of shade 13".
