Chinese, mid-20th century. A series of four ink and pigment paintings on silk, one depicting grasshoppers flanked by large leaves and a gourd, one with a grasshopper and ladybugs amid large chrysanthemum blossoms, one with grasshoppers and a beetle on a head of green leaf lettuce, and a pair of grasshoppers on a green gourd below a cat tail plant. One panel inscribed to upper left above two red seal marks, partially translating to "history of the women who lived in the house". Labels to verso of each for Far Gallery, 746 Madison Avenue, New York, which closed its doors in 1972. Each framed approximately 17.75" x 15.25". Each sight size approximately 7.5" square.
