Chinese, first half 20th century. A fine naturalistically carved wood statue of standing Bodhisattva Guanyin or Guan Yin, the serene round face with contemplative expression and the eyes downcast having hair swept up in topknots secured behind a diadem modeled in the form of a small Buddha seated in "dhyanasana" and dressed in long flowing robes, the left arm down at side and holding a piece of robe, the right hand in aakash vardhak mudra, standing on a lotus form circular base. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 51", base width 16", base depth 15".
