Chinese, Zhengde Period mark (1506-1521), likely late 19th/ early 20th century. A bulbous porcelain jardiniere or lidless urn with high shoulder decorated to white body with blue underglaze hand painted scenes with four shaped cartouches each containing a mythological beast in a landscape setting with cloud scrolls to sky and a round archaic auspicious symbol to it's back, below the cartouches to the foot of the urn a band of lappets, and above the cartouches to the urn shoulder a band of meandering floral vines and a band of ruyi scrolls. Underside with cobalt underglaze Zhengde imperial reign mark. Approximate height 13.25", diameter 14.5".
