Continental, late 19th/early 20th century. A Baroque style stained oak hall chairs in Sgabello form ornately carved with tapering pierced back surmounted by an arched rayed crest centering a grotesque mask or 'mask of an ancient'; above a rinceau frieze supported by two caryatids enclosing a foliate pierced and imbricated splat over a rectangular shaped and paneled dished seat enhanced with stipple and foliage within an egg and dart carved rail on front seated satyr supports centered with cabochon. Approximate height 45.5", width 20" (crestrail), seat depth 14.5", seat height 18.5".
