French, mid 20th century. A Louis XV-style rosewood parquetry veneer semanier, having a gray marble top atop a narrow banded case with chamfered corners, fitted with seven drawers, each with banded inlay, and resting on cabriole legs terminating in brass toe caps, with gilt brass ormolu and ribboned laurel wreath key escutcheons. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 52.675", width 14.375", depth 10.75". Provenance: From the Estate of Vice Admiral Hugh Goodwin and Mrs. Eleanor Welty Goodwin thence by descent to their daughter, Sidney Mary Goodwin and her husband, Mr. George Marshall Brown of Georgia.
