J. D. Schleissner & Söhne (German (Hanau), founded 1817), imported by Berthold Muller (English (London), late 19th/ early 20th century). Louis XIV style Hanau sterling silver salad serving set comprising a fork and spoon each bearing a figural fully rigged clipper ship at top of handle over openwork scrolling flat handle with acanthine details and two putti at base flanking a crowned medallion, the spoon with ovular bowl bearing repousse heraldic coat of arms, and the fork with scalloped base set under four tapering tines. Underside of each with Hanau psuedo hallmark for Schleissner simulating an 18th century Augsburg mark beside stylized waves and a crowned "R.C.", the fork also with English import marks comprising a sun with facial features, "925" within an oval cartouche, letter date "k" indicating import in 1905, and importer mark "BM" for Berthold Mueller. Spoon approximate length 11", fork approximate length 10.25". Total approximate weight 8.8 troy ounces.
