French, 19th century. A French Provincial cream distress-painted wooden chandelier comprising two tiers and 9 metal arms wrapped in linen terminating in wooden baluster turned candle cups, the upper tier with turned shaft and shelf with 3 arms, resting on a baluster standard surmounting the lower tier with larger tripartite molded shelf with 6 arms, over a classical carved base with scrolled corbels projecting from the central shaft in the form of a Doric column decorated with a hanging ball and dome topped drop or pendant. Fixed with a patinated ring and hank for hanging. Approximate height 60", width 37.25". Provenance: From the Private Collection of Helen Ballard, Atlanta, Georgia, whereby acquired by present owner.
