Chinese, late 19th/ early 20th century. A pair of very fine carved spinach green jade table screens with ovular plaques to carved and stained hardwood frames, each screen bearing mirrored bas relief decoration to the semi-translucent stone depicting a quanyin to upper quadrant standing amid clouds holding a scroll in her arms, the female goddess set before a pair of distant pagodas, the lower quadrant carved with a male figure in profile view holding fishing net under far arm with hands clasped in prayer position as he peers up toward the Kwanyin, the male figure accompanied by an ox or bull standing on a rocky shoreline with trees, the entire skyline above the low horizon line carved with cloud scrolls and flying birds. Verso of each stone incised with the same six lines of lishu script calligraphy, and with further five calligraphic marks upper left over three calligraphic marks, possibly a signature, within rounded cartouche at lower left. Lacking stands. Each panel overall approximately 30" x 20.75". Stone sight size approximately 24.125" x 14.5". Provenance: From the Estate of Channing S. Jun, M.D., Eastman, Georgia.
