French, Normandy or Bayeux, late 18th century. A fine and highly carved oak marriage or wedding armoire having a projecting cornice with rounded corners carved with beading, water leaves, rais-de-coeur and linen fold over a frieze centered with relief carving of two love birds flanking an urn overflowing with fruit and foliage above a pair of paneled and shaped doors relief carved at the top and bottom with fruit, foliage and lovebirds and mounted with 44 inch long brass escutcheons and brass fiche hinges centered by a decorated carved stile over a deep scrolled, paneled and relief carved drawer further decorated with central oval medallion enclosing ribbon tied fruit cluster flanked by lovebirds, fruit and foliage raised on carved and decorated stiles. Approximate height 98", width 64.37", depth 22".
