American, mid to late 20th century. Eight Chippendale style mahogany chairs, including two arm and six side, each rococo in motif, having a serpentine crestrail with carved acanthus leaves and foliated ears, carved foliated backposts, a pierced and foliated carved back splat and shoe, with an acanthus carved apron, acanthus carved cabriole legs terminating in claw and ball feet, and black velvet upholstery. Two with serpentine arms ending in scrolled handholds, atop C-scroll arm supports. Approximate height 40.25", width (of armchair) 26", seat depth 17.5", seat to floor 20".
