Last half 20th century. A Queen Anne style chinoiserie and parcel gilt decorated secretary bookcase, In two parts, the upper case with molded broken arch pediment over a pair of arched paneled doors opening to an interior fitted with thirty varied size drawers, six valance pigeon holes, two pull out file compartments centering a pair of doors opening to a void interior, above a slant front revealing eleven small drawers, four valanced pigeon holes a central 'prospect' door flanked to each side by a 'secret' compartment all above two short and two long drawers raised on bracket feet. The frieze decorated with a pair of elephants, the whole decorated with Chinoiserie scenes; figures amid pavilions and pagodas, temples and mountains, rockwork, landscape, foliage, birds amidst trees and flowering foliage and diaper pattern on ebonized ground. Approximate height 87.5", width 38.5", depth 20".
