manner of francois rubestuck, circa 1775 having a later white marble top of breakfront outline over the conforming case fitted with three graduated drawers, with gilt Chinoiserie decoration throughout, some mounts replaced, raised on cabriole legs ending in leaf cast sabots. Height 35 x width 50 x depth 24 inches. Property from the Estate of Ann T. Downey, Palm Beach, Florida In overall good, stable, usable condition. Marble top intact without repairs or losses. Having typical rough/unfinished back edge. Marble likely later. Later French polish or other polish. Case likewise intact having a fairly even finish throughout. Some crazing to decorated finish with areas of wear, scratching and some areas of likely touch-up; possibly entirely overpainted. Mounts all appear present with fairly even, bright patina. Pulls are likely replacements. Each drawer opens and closes smoothly. Each with lock, having one (later) key which does not work locks. Interior boards to back and drawer bottoms with age shrinkage and separation. Some minor worming to upper left edge under marble. Additional images available upon request.
