18th century, virginia in two parts, the upper section having a broken bonnet cornice with three flaming urn finials over a series of three short drawers and four graduated long drawers, the lower case enclosing a series of four drawers above acorn drop finials, raised on cabriole legs ending in pad feet. Height 82 x width 42 x depth 22 inches. In overall good, stable condition. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Fairly smooth drawer action. Repaired age crack visible to proper right side of case, visible to interior drawers. Few traces of worm throughout. Age split visible to left side of pediment with areas of veneer replacement to one drawer and other minor areas. Hardware having age but probably not original; lock plates are false and do not function. Pendant finials intact; top finials possibly later. Front right leg lacking exterior block to one side. Older but probably not original finish throughout. Provenance: originally built for the Drewry family of what later became Drewryville, Virginia; then by family descent to William Drewry, Chicago, and then to Mr. Ronald Stoeckig, a friend of William Drewry's.
