Shaker Steel Stove Tongs and Shovel, probably Canterbury, New Hampshire, c. 1850, scissors-type tongs with square tapered handle terminating in a small ball, arms tapered to end in flattened circular discs, shovel appears to have been forged as a single piece with shallow walls and flaring curved sides, lg. to 18 1/2 in. Provenance: Probably acquired at Canterbury, New Hampshire.
