Alexander Davisson's Medal for the Battle of the Nile, Birmingham, England, 1798, designed by C. H. Kuchler and struck by Matthew Boulton in copper, the obverse with figure of Peace standing on rocky shoreline holding an oval medallion with a bust of Lord Nelson, the reverse with a view of the British fleet going into action, the edge with incuse legend "FROM ALEXR DAVISON, ESQR, ST JAMES' SQUARE = A TRIBUTE OF REGARD," (deep mahogany brown, reverse with some mottling), dia. 47.6 mm. Note: Davisson struck specimens of this medal in gold, silver, gilt copper, and copper. The copper medals were presented to seamen and marines who took part in the Battle of the Nile.
