Federal Mahogany and Mahogany Veneer Tambour Desk, attributed to the Seymour workshop, Boston, 1800s, the upper section having a rectangular cornice with front edge inlaid with a lunette design over two tambour doors interspersed with three inlaid pilasters and enclosing an interior of six valanced compartments over four short drawers all fitted into a molded lower section with fold-out writing surface over three graduated long drawers with cross-banding and inlaid ivory urn-form escutcheons and flanked by panels defined by stringing, joined by straight skirt with applied molding on square tapering legs with cuff inlays, (imperfections), ht. 43 1/4, wd. 36 dp. 19 in. Provenance: This desk belonged to the Parker family, descended from Deacon Thomas Parker, who arrived in MAssachusetts in 1630, and from John Parker, who played a key role in the Battle of Lexington.
