Carved Mahogany Erotic Sculpture, "When God took a Rib from Adam to Make Eve," Ulysses Davis (1914-1992), Savannah, Georgia, underside inscribed "King of Egypt Rameses Ulysses Davis 15 W 45th Savanah(sic) GA," with stand, lg. 8 1/2 in. N.B. This sculpture appears to relate to the artist's 1965-70 work. Though Davis is best known for his portrait busts of American Presidents, his oeuvre included religious and other themes, including erotica. Lot 1368 represents one of Davis' religious subjects.
