Provenance: Ex-collection of Robert Lang, New York. Literature: Everett U. Crosby, EASTMAN JOHNSON AT NANTUCKET: HIS PAINTINGS AND SKETCHES OF NANTUCKET PEOPLE AND SCENES (privately published; Nantucket, Massachusetts), 1944, number C52. N.B. The view depicted is probably the interior of the Round Top windmill, which was dismantled in 1873.
