Alice Ravenel Huger Smith (American, 1876-1958) "Sea" Signed "Alice R. H. Smith" l.r. Watercolor on paper, sight size 29 x 21 3/4 in. (73.6 x 55.2 cm), framed. Condition: Scattered foxing, subtle toning, not examined out of frame. N.B. "Sea" was one of the works presented by the artist to Harry and Talulah McInvaill as a wedding gift. "Sea" was meant to reflect Harry's profession - he was an Ensign in the Navy - and his aspirations to be a writer and a poet. See also the note for lot 246.
