Alice Ravenel Huger Smith (American, 1876-1958) "Weather" Unsigned, label from Pink House Galleries, Charleston, South Carolina, on the reverse. Watercolor on paper, sight size 22 1/4 x 31 1/4 in. (56.3 x 79.2 cm), framed. Condition: Subtle toning, not examined out of frame. N.B. "Weather," the work presented here, was painted in 1943 before Harry McInvaill's engagement, and was given to the couple as a wedding present in 1944, together with several other works. In the note accompanying this gift the artist wrote "I painted this for you before I knew about her - must have felt the sunshine coming with her."
