Neapolitan Crche Figure of Mary with a Later Baby, Italy, late 18th century, terra-cotta head in original finish, brown inset eyes, brown molded hair pulled into a bun and curl at the back of head, tranquil expression, traditional tow-covered body, carved well-articulated wooden hands (paint loss, some finger damage), carved wooden feet with sandals, attached red woven laces, original white under-veil, pink silk robe (substantial fiber loss), remains of blue silk mantle, together with a Christ Child, Spain, 20th century, (chip and repair to fingers), Mary ht. 14, child lg. 6 in.
