Federal Maple and Tiger Maple Chest of Drawers, signed "John Fisher," Nashua, New Hampshire, "1814," the rectangular maple top with painted simulated inlay in outline, above the solid tiger maple scratch-beaded drawers with ovolo outline painted to simulate ebony stringing, above a cyma-curved tiger maple veneer skirt with central arced pendant, flanked by arched French feet, the scratch-beading outline of the drawers is painted black, replaced brass pulls, refinished, (repairs), ht. 38, case wd. 44 in. N.B. Contemporary signature may be seen on the lower top. It reads "John Fisher, March 16th, 1814." John Fisher is listed as a Nashua, New Hampshire, cabinetmaker, 1826-1845, in partnership with John Coggin, as listed in the "New Hampshire Cabinetmakers And Allied Craftsmen, 1790-1850," by Jane C. Giffen, The Magazine Antiques, July 1968, pp. 78-87.
