Federal Mahogany Inlaid Tall Case Clock, "Simon Willard," Roxbury, Massachusetts, c. 1800, the pierced fret above the arched, molded crest and tombstone glazed door, which is flanked by fluted and brass stop-fluted columns, opens to a moon-faced painted metal dial with hemispheres, pink floral spandrels, a seconds hand, a strike and a calendar aperture, and is inscribed "Warranted for Mr. John Michael" and "Simon Willard," enclosing an eight-day weight-driven brass movement above a waist door with applied molding, stringing, and quarter fan inlays flanked by engaged fluted and brass stop-fluted quarter columns on a similarly inlaid box base above a shaped skirt on bracket feet, old refinish, (restored), ht. 92 1/2 in.
