Chippendale Carved Walnut Side Chair, Philadelphia, 1740-85, the serpentine crest, centering a fluted shell above a vasiform splat, flanked by square tapering stiles with rounded backs above a trapezoidal molded slip seat with cyma-curved front rail and shaped sides over frontal cabriole legs ending in trifid feet and rear raked rounded legs, old surface, 20th century blue silk damask upholstery, (very minor imperfections), ht. 41, seat ht. 17 3/4 in.
