Chippendale Carved Tiger Maple Slant-lid Desk, Massachusetts, 1760-80, the lid opens to an interior with a central, paneled prospect door on a molded base opening to two shaped shelves flanked by open compartments with serpentine dividers above similarly shaped and blocked small drawers, on a case of thumb-molded graduated drawers and a molded shaped bracket base with a central fan-carved pendant, original brass, the interior with early dark brown paint, the exterior with old tiger maple surface, (imperfections), ht. 41, wd. 36, dp. 19 5/8 in.
