Richard Houston (Irish, 1721-1775) Lot of Two Horse Portraits: The Portraiture of CRAB... , 1755 and The Portraiture of White Nofe..., 1756, both probably posthumous impressions. Both identified within the plates. Mezzotints with hand-coloring on paper, plate sizes 11 3/4 x 13 3/4in., in matching burl veneered frames. Condition: Unobtrusive soiling and toning, not examined out of frames. N.B. According to Ian Mackenzie's British Prints: Dictionary and Price Guide (Antique Collectors' Club; Woodbridge, 1987, page 165) Houston "...was a dissipated character and was confined to the Fleet Prison for many years by the publisher R. Sayer..."
