Attributed to Michele Felice Corne (French/American, 1752-1845) Brig Victory of Salem... and the Eruption of Vesuvius...1810. Unsigned, brig identified on stern, view from windward stern, seen under full sail. Mixed media including watercolor, gouache, and pen and ink on paper, sight size 16 1/4 x 22 in., framed. Condition: Water stains u.r., u.c. and l.c. edges, abrasion u.r., not examined out of frame. N.B. Corne painted and taught in Salem from c. 1799 to 1806, then worked in Boston until 1822.
