American, Late 19th/Early 20th century. Hepplewhite style mahogany and satinwood inlaid tambour secretary desk. Superstructure with checkered inlaid banding over a long frieze drawer above a pair of tambour doors each enclosing two small drawers and three valanced pigeon holes centered by a prospect door inlaid with flowering urn and concealing a small drawer. The case with fold over writing surface inset with gilt tooled red leather and a slide to each side, three cockbeaded drawers with individual locking mechanisms. Overall on shaped bracket feet. Desk retains original retailer tag from Hathaway's 51 West 45th Street, New York. Height 47.5", length 36.5", depth 18".
