Cuff-Pattern Microscope by Dollond, London, second half 18th century, with coarse and fine-screw pillar focusing, cruciform stage with forceps and condenser, reflector, and scroll support on mahogany drawer base containing a set of six objectives, talc box, fish plate, live box, lieburkuhn, spring-stage, four ivory sliders, and other accessories, in pyramidical mahogany case with a drawer in base, ht. 18 in. Literature: COLLECTING MICROSCOPES, Gerard L.E. Turner, pages 53-4. According to Turner, it is possible that Dollond sold microscopes actually made by John Cuff.
