Likely American School, late 19th/ early 20th century. "Waiting At Her Door", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Figural painting depicting an older woman wearing a long and modest black dress and a white bonnet over her hair as she sits outside the door of her home, peering wistfully out over the landscape toward the sea in background, this scene likely referencing James Whistler's (American, 1834-1903) portraits of solitary solemn females in interiors. Framed approximately 29.75" x 46". Sight sized approximately 19" x 35.5".
