Jefferson, Thomas (1743-1826) and Others, Interesting archive of ship and maritime related material including a Ship's Passport for the Schooner Rebecca Christopher Prince, January 7th, 1807, countersigned by James Madison and Benjamin Lincoln; and a body of correspondence, circa 1823 and 24, concerning claims and counterclaims filed for and against Mr. Joshua Ellis and James Bartlett. The dispute centers around whether the Brig Joseph was seaworthy when Ellis, as Master, caused the destruction of the Ship Joseph, approximately fourteen pieces, some interesting postal marks.
