Lt. James M. Drennan, 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry: a Model 1850 Foot Officer's sword, inscribed on the scabbard mouthpiece Presented to Lieut. J. M. Drennan by the Members of Co. K 25th Reg. M. V., Oct. 9th 1861 , lg. 37 in., a simpler Model 1850 sword, with plain blade and metal scabbard with bullet dents, a Model 1861 Percussion Springfield rifle-musket, dated 1862 with socket bayonet, a bayonet-saber, a chromolithograph Soldiers Memorial for Co. K, listing the officers and men and their battles and skirmishes, membership certificate in the Loyal Legion,a photograph of Drennan as an older man and a label card. Provenance: By descent. James Drennan mustered out as a Captain and latter served as Fire Chief for Worcester. The second sword has a tag attached inscribed Pa's favorite, dents caused by shot, upper dent-shot glanced off and struck in the hip. The rifle has a similar tag inscribed Father's musket, given to him when he enlisted as a private... . The 25th saw action primarily in North Carolina.
