Continental, likely French, last quarter of 19th century. Aesthetic Movement gilt metal basket with beaded border at top of shaped basket with engraved wavy branch and speckled accents surrounding leaf and floral form champleve enamel accents on sides, surmounting a thin faux bamboo support leading to lower cross stretcher shelf with additional engraved and champleve decoration on four grotesque mask and scrolled legs terminating on toupie feet. Apparently unmarked. Approximate height 9.8", width 9.75", depth 6.75". Provenance: From the Estate of Norma Seidman, Lincolnwood, Illinois whereby sold by Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in Chicago, Illinois as Lot 562 on their May 2nd, 2010 auction whereby acquired and sold to the Estate of Mary L. Haugk, Lawrenceville, Georgia.
