Needlework Sampler, "JEANNET POLLOCK SH-ED THIS SAMPLE YEAR 1794," England, executed in multicolored silk threads on a loosely woven linen ground, with an alphabet, the names of her parents, and the initials of their children above a short Bible verse and various motifs including Adam and Eve flanking the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil with the serpent encircling the tree, birds, trees, flowers, hearts, and rabbits, all enclosed by a geometric flowering vine, (some losses, stains, toning), 13 3/8 x 13 3/8 in.
