Carved and Engraved Powder Horn, probably New England, 1804, with a carved plug fitted at the tip, having two raised rings and nine panels extending to a two-inch horizontally ribbed band five and 1/2 inches from the tip, inscribed "NICHOLAS ARMITSTEAD 1804," with four sailing vessels, crescent moons, small stars and stripes of cross-hatching, the remainder of the horn is smooth, a rounded red stained pine plug at the butt secured by two rows of iron brads has a brass knob and brad decoration, (1/8-inch hole between the raised rings, butt plug may be refinished), approximate lg. 17 in.
