Grandma Moses (Anna Mary Robertson, American, 1860-1961) Winter Scene. 1930-50, signed "Moses" l.r. Oil on board, sight size 9 1/2 x 13 1/4 in., framed. Condition: Excellent. Note: Grandma Moses, (1860-1961), was a 20th century artist who began painting seriously when she was in her seventies. Her nostalgic portrayals of rural life in the late 19th and early 20th centuries often seem inspired by Currier and Ives prints. Provenance: Stanton Auctions, with accompanying note reading, "I, Florence Robertson Bodenstal, niece of Grandma Mary Robertson Moses was given this painting as a gift from Grandma."
