Federal Mahogany Inlaid Pedestal Back Side Chair, attributed to Jacob Forster (1786-1838) Charleston, Massachusetts, c. 1800, the shield back is outlined with stringing above five shaped inlaid ribs with bellflowers and stringing entering an inlaid lunette above an over-upholstered seat with serpentine front rail on square, tapering front legs inlaid with stringing, joined by stretchers to the rear raking legs, old surface, (minor imperfections), ht. 36 7/8, seat ht. 17 3/4 in.
