Large Round Nantucket Utility Basket, America, probably early 20th century, with two carved wooden handles, contrasting light colored caning on dark wooden staves, turned wooden base inscribed "MPL SEELER 35," (Seeler was the owner), (repair on base), ht. 12 1/2, dia. 18 in. Provenance: Estate of Katherine Seeler, Nantucket, Massachusetts. N.B. Katherine Seeler and her husband Edgar wrote and published a book Nantucket Lightship Baskets, published by the Deermouse Press, Nantucket, Massachusetts, originally published in 1972.
